Located between the Ukiah and Anderson Valleys, DogWood is a contemporary secluded retreat nestled on 83 acres in the rural foothills of Mendocino County. DogWood is ideal for couples and small families that treasure traveling with their pets and are searching for a private escape, wine tasting, romantic getaways and outdoor adventures.
About DogWood Cottage
Perched atop a ridge, surrounded by Oaks and Pines with pond views, the cottage has a spacious floorplan with tall windows that bring the outdoors in. Handsome fabrics, contemporary furniture, modern lighting and local artwork are featured, creating a feeling of elegancee for our guests. Urban comforts for both humans and pets include central heat and AC, a fully equipped kitchen, ceramic tile flooring thoughout and a laundry room. For privacy, the bedrooms are seperated by a large open living space.

Open-Concept Living/Dining/ Kitchen provides an airy environment to relax and entertain.
Comfortable leather sofa and viewing chairs provide seating for six, whether relaxing around the Morsoe woodburning stove, or watching movies on the 65" Samsung TV, featuring Chromecast for customized viewing. The sofa can also be utlized for a 5th guest. Cooking enthusiasts will enjoy a fully equipped modern kitchen with gas stove and large cutting board island (See FAQs for more kitchen/grocery details).
Main-Bedroom Suite
Wake up to the views of the country in a California King Thuma bed featuring a Tempurpedic mattress and high-quality bedding, alpaca blankets and a selection of soft-to-firm pillows in either down or down alternatives. Two cozy reading chairs, ample closet space with storage drawers, 40" Samsung TV featuring Chromecast and a modern working desk. The bathroom is a true private spa getway featuring a soaking tub for two and a seperate rainfall shower, plush Turkish towels to relax in provided.
Second Bedroom Suite and 5th Guest Sleeping Option
A cozy version of the Main Bedroom, this queen-size space offers high-quality bedding and pillow assortment for a rejuvenating sleep. Includes ample closet space, storage drawers and all windows feature room darkening roller shades. A private en suite bathroom includes stand-up shower and plenty of comfortbale Turkish bath towels. For a 5th Guest, the sofa in the main living area can be utilized as a very comfortable sleeping space with the addition of a roll-out futon-style mattress and it's own bedding.

Floor-to-ceiling Windows (bedrooms have privacy/room darkening shades) , Central HVAC, Screened Windows, Wireless High-speed Internet, high-grade water treatment and softening systems. Pets are WELCOME!
The Cottage is surrounded by a perimeter fence to help keep dogs close. All floor surfaces are cool tile for napping (and easy clean-up if needed). We have plenty of dog bowls, tennis balls and towels for drying the pups that enjoy swimming in the pond.
Swimming and Fishing in the 2-acre "Piano Lake" Pond
DogWood features a 2-acre private pond (commonly referred to as Piano Lake due to it's shape) maintained by a professional aquatics manager monthly throughout the year and is safe for both swimming and fishing. We have plenty of towels for swimming (seperate from bathroom towels) for both humans and dogs. For those who enjoy fishing, the pond is stocked with Bass and some Blue Gill. Most guests are catch-and-release anglers, but you (and our aquatics manager!) are welcome to enjoy a great pond Bass meal!
Specialty Kitchen Equipment and Groceries/Local Meats and Produce!
The kitchen is equpped with a variety of pots/pans/baking equipment, microwave, dsihwasher, Capresso coffee grinder/maker, tea kettle,Long-bread toaster, Belgian waffle maker, rice cooker, wok, hand mixer, Cuisinart blender and a water filtration system. Locally sourced, organic produce, seafood and meats are abundantly available year-round via farmers markets, the Ukiah Co-op grocery store and individual seafood mongers and butchers.
